As complementary and integrative health approaches become integrated in the western medicine, what, if any of these approaches are utilized by college students?  This particular session will review the efficacy of Complementary and Integrative therapies in the Public Health Policy Domain, especially among the college population.
College students often suffer from stress, anxiety, sleep related problems and struggle with substance use and academic performance.  Yoga is being used as a therapeutic intervention for college students by researchers and this literature review focuses on seventy five college-based studies utilizing yoga interventions published in peer–reviewed journals from years 2000 to 2016.  Studies from these publications primarily come from the United States (n=36) and India (n=25).  The review article addresses variation in yoga intervention therapies, mainly method and duration.  Similar to other published research, most of these studies address major limitations and issues with research design and implementation, both of which are important aspects to consider within the growing field of evidence based yoga research.  Regardless, these published studies indicate that use of yoga in the college setting is an important and growing field of research.
