It is said that yoga is the journey of the self through the self. This was very much how my yoga journey has been. My passion for yoga began when I went to class hoping to lose weight and be happier in my own body, but I found so much more than that. Yoga made me want to be better to myself. It helped me to understand that if I did not fill my own cup, I could not properly give to others. I did lose 85 pounds in the beginning of my yoga journey (combined with weightlifting) but by the time this happened, I also stopped drinking, left behind my awful but lucrative management career, and found something I could truly be passionate about doing everyday. I felt myself transform physically, mentally, and spiritually. After creating a consistent practice, I have been able to have yoga and meditation as a resource to keep myself elevated and happy. I am eternally grateful for what having a yoga practice has done for me.
Feeling inspired to deepen my knowledge of yoga, I attended 200HR YTT in 2015. After training I wanted to start teaching immediately, and this lead me to guide all ages and levels in many scenarios: elementary – high school, jujitsu studios, gyms, rehabilitation centers, and mental health hospitals. In doing this, I have learned that yoga can change a person’s mindset, desires, and mental clarity. My philosophy is that YOU can create their world and discover their inner power by taking the time for themselves and listening to their body with a yoga practice. We all have everything we need inside of us to be happier, to create positive change in our world, to be a good human and have compassion for one another.
My intention for my students in class is to find their inner power. Whether in a vinyasa practice or restorative class, you will have the space to explore, discover, and challenge yourself in a safe, open environment.
I studied under Lex Gillan at the Yoga Institute in Houston, TX. I have received specialty training in Meditation, Hatha, Yin, Flow, and more. I have been teaching yoga full time and continue to expand my yoga knowledge daily from workshops, my students, and my own studies. When I am not teaching yoga, I am raising two beautiful yoga enthusiasts at home.
